
About Roberto
Roberto Malinow was born born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1956. He received a B.A. in mathematics from Reed College in 1978, an M.D. from the NYU School of Medicine in 1984, and a Ph.D. in Neurobiology from UC Berkeley in 1986. He conducted postdoctoral research at the Yale University School of Medicine under the guidance of Dr. Richard Tsein. He joined the faculty of the University of Iowa in 1990 and then in 1994 came to Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, where he was the Ale Davis and Maxine Harrison Professor of Neuroscience. Dr. Malinow left CSHL in 2006 for the University California San Diego and established his laboratory in their Biological and Neurological Sciences group.
